As a perfectionist, I am hard on myself when I make a simple mistake. I ask myself why are you not good enough? Why can’t you be stronger? Why do you deserve to be happy? This song Beautiful Creature by Illenium has been the biggest source of inspiration for me lately. “We got monsters in our closet, had a reason but we lost it. But I know inside we’re beautiful creatures.”

I wanted to talk about self-love today with you guys. I think self-love is so hard to find when society expects so much of us. I find it foolish that we need to conform to fit in. So my goal for myself this year as I turn 23 is to continue on this path of finding self-love. I know the journey will be long, but in the end, it will eventually be worth it.

Here are a couple of things that I am going to challenge myself with so try it out with me if you’re struggling right now too.

• Forgive yourself. For all the mistakes you have made because you are only human. Being human requires you to fall and get back up again.
• Write a love letter to yourself. Remind yourself why you are worth it. Then read it whenever you are feeling down.
• Surround yourself with people who will constantly hype you up when you’re down.
• My last advice is something that I need to do more, which is to meditate. Sometimes the world is moving so fast that it is okay to remove yourself and breath.

Now that the sappy stuff is over, let’s talk about fashion. This will be my last outfit for summer trends. This summer has been all about patterns, especially stripes. I know that two pieces are such a hit this summer so I am hoping that trend will continue into fall wear. This brings me to what will be popular for fall 2018, which I am super excited about. I love fall so much because layering is such a key aspect in fashion.

On the runway for fall Ready-To-Wear from Givenchy to Topshop, animal print will be coming back. Next up we have plaid returning with Veronica Beard alongside Elizabeth and James. Thank you for reading today’s Cup of Thy, remember to continue your journey of self-love!
